Manchester United officials in Spain to offer Mason Greenwood to various clubs

As reported by Marca, Manchester United officials are travelling around Spain in an attempt to sell Mason Greenwood for €50m.

Last night they met with Barcelona and are now scheduled to meet Greenwood’s agents in Getafe to find a resolution.

Atlético Madrid and teams from Saudi Arabia remain interested in the Englishman and are monitoring the situation.

Despite having interest from Europe and Saudi Arabia, Getafe believe they are frontrunners in this race and ideally would like the player to continue for at least another season. In January 2022 he was removed from the Man United first team and in the summer of 2023 Getafe opted to bring him in on a loan basis; since then he has established himself as a regular for Bordalás.

The dynamic forward, who has 11 goal contributions in 23 games this season, is able to play on both wings and as the central striker. Consequently, the Red Devils are asking for €50m, which is an amount that Getafe cannot afford. The high asking price could also be a deal-breaker for Barca and even Atlético Madrid, who would both have to raise significant capital to bring in the young prodigy.

However, this is unlikely as both of the aforementioned clubs need to prioritise other positions. Greenwood, 22, wants to be competing in European competitions, ideally the Champions League, but at the same time he feels settled and comfortable in Getafe and therefore another loan may be on the cards.
