Manchester United making progress on deal to sign Raphaël Varane from Real Madrid

According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are making progress on a deal to sign Real Madrid defender Raphaël Varane.

Varane is United’s main defensive target this summer and the club are currently working on a transfer.

The report explains that a move for Varane is ‘progressing slowly’ as United aim to recruit a centre-back. The Old Trafford outfit have also held talks with the representatives of Villarreal and Spain defender Pau Torres but Varane is believed to be their preferred target.

The Independent reports that the France defender, who has spent 10 years with the LaLiga giants, feels like now is the time to move on.
