Manchester United are in talks with former Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde, according to journalist Jamie Jackson.

Valverde was sacked as Barcelona manager in January 2020 and has previously worked with Espanyol, Villarreal, Valencia and Athletic Club in Spain.

At Barca, Valverde won La Liga twice as well as the Copa del Rey. The report in The Guardian suggests that the 57-year-old has started sounding out potential players he could add to the Manchester United squad.

The Spanish coach is reportedly on a list of five potential candidates who could succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the hot seat at Old Trafford.
