Manchester United explore possibility of signing Barcelona’s Sergiño Dest

Manchester United are exploring the possibility of a late move for Barcelona right-back Sergiño Dest, according to Sky Sports.

Dest has emerged as an option for United after their failed bid for Frenkie de Jong. The Old Trafford outfit have since turned their attention to the American defender to strengthen their defence for 2022-23.

The USMNT right-back is not in Xavi’s plans at Camp Nou and wants to leave. According to Sky Sports, Dest could join United if Aaron Wan-Bissaka, wanted by Crystal Palace and West Ham, leaves in the next 48 hours.

The former Ajax full-back has three years left on his contract at Barca. He has made a total of 72 official appearances across all competitions for the club, scoring three goals and registering five assists.

United have spent over €200 million on new signings this summer. Antony has joined from Ajax for €100m, Casemiro from Real Madrid for €70m, Lisandro Martinez was bought for €57m, Tyrell Malacia (€15m) and Christian Eriksen (€0m).
