Manchester City to make bid for Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City are now set to submit an opening bid to Brighton for Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella.

Pep Guardiola is keen to sign the former Getafe player, who impressed for the Premier League club in his first season in England.

Cucurella has attracted the interest of other big sides in English football. In 2021/22, he played a total of 34 Premier League games, scoring one goal and providing an assist.

The pacey full-back started out with Espanyol before joining Barcelona at underage level. He had loan spells at Eibar and Getafe and eventually joined Getafe on a permanent deal from Barcelona in 2020.

Stiil only 23, Cucurella has a contract with Brighton until 2026. Brighton travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United in their opening fixture of the 2022/23 season and it remains to seen if the Spaniard will be playing for Graham Potter’s side.

He has represented Spain from U16 level to senior level.
