Manchester City are concluding talks to sign Anderlecht’s Sergio Gómez, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
Earlier in August it was communicated that Manchester City had shown interest in signing Sergio Gómez from Anderlecht as an alternative to Marc Cucurella.
The Sky Blues have negotiated a reported fee of €15 million with the Belgian outfit to sign the Spaniard permanently.
Initially it was believed that Gómez would be sent out on loan for the upcoming season to Girona, an other member of the City Football Group.
However, it appears as though Pep Guardiola is counting on the left-back in Manchester City’s first team. He could fit the void left by Oleksandr Zinchenko, who departed the club to join Arsenal.
Despite coming through La Masia, Gómez never made a single appearance for Barcelona’s senior team. His move to the Premier League could allow him to showcase what he is capable of at the highest level of English football.
