The nominees for the February Player of the Month in La Liga have on Wednesday been unveiled online.
And the shortlist features leading names from the squads of Spanish football’s two leading clubs.
First up comes Kylian Mbappé, responsible for both of Real Madrid’s league goals over the course of February to date.
The Frenchman, amid a significant recent upturn in form, managed important goals in both the Madrid Derby, and against Osasuna last weekend.
Turning attentions towards Barcelona, and Pedri’s ongoing brilliance in the middle of the park has been recognised by way of a nomination, too.
The Spanish international has been in nothing short of inspired form of late, and saw out the 90 minutes in Barca’s two La Liga fixtures in February thus far, chipping in with a classy assist against Sevilla.
Another altogether noteworthy inclusion on the shortlist for Player of the Month comes in the form of Antony, amid what has been a hugely impressive start to life with Real Betis following his January loan arrival from Manchester United.
Rounding out the candidates for the prize are Athletic Club standout Oihan Sancet – an early favourite owing to his haul of five goals in February – and Osasuna frontman Ante Budimir (3 goals in 3 appearances).
