Man City confirm double injury boost before Real Madrid

Premier League champions Manchester City have on Saturday confirmed a timely double boost on the personnel front, ahead of their impending showdown with Real Madrid.

Pep Guardiola’s troops are of course primed to welcome La Liga table-toppers Real to The Etihad this coming Wednesday.

As much comes with the two sides set to do battle in the 2nd leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.

The matchup currently stands on a knife-edge, after a pulsating 3-3 stalemate at the Santiago Bernabéu in midweek.

As alluded to above, though, the hopes of Man City of sending European football’s most successful-ever club packing from the continent for the 2nd year in succession have this weekend been afforded a boost.

This comes by way of not one, but two of the club’s sidelined stars returning to matchday action.

The players in question? Kyle Walker, and Nathan Aké.

Defenders Walker and Aké were of course both forced to sit out the Sky Blues’ trip to Madrid on Tuesday, owing to respective fitness problems.

On Saturday, though, the pair have been named on the bench for their side’s Premier League meeting with Luton Town.

Not only that, but Ederson has been deemed well enough to take his spot back between the posts, too.
