Barcelona star Anthony Gordon was the recipient of messages of support on the part of several of his fellow countrymen over the last 24 hours.
This of course comes fresh off an evening which will live long in the memory for the former Newcastle United man on Saturday.
After carrying his fine recent stretch of individual form through the international break with England, Gordon was rewarded with a fresh starting berth for Barcelona in a La Liga meeting with Getafe last night.
When all was said and done at the Spotify Camp Nou, Hansi Flick’s rampant hosts emerged on the right side of a 3-0 result.
And it was that man Gordon who kicked the goalscoring into gear… Cutting inside from his berth on the left, the 25-year-old danced beyond several opposing defenders, before seeing his deflected effort from the edge of the box find the net.
This marked Gordon’s very first goal in the famed red and blue of Barcelona.
And as alluded to above, post-match, amongst those quick to send messages of congratulations to the Englishman were international teammates Morgan Rogers and Elliot Anderson, of Chelsea and Manchester City respectively:
