Croatia are set to play Brazil in the quarter-finals of the World Cup tomorrow.
In his pre-match press conference that appeared on Mundo Deportivo, Luka Modrić was asked about playing against his Brazilian teammates at Real Madrid:
“Playing against Real Madrid teammates? We can be friends after the game. But in the meantime, everyone fights for their country and we’ll do everything to win. I’m looking forward to playing against them.”
The Croatian midfielder also elaborated on his relationship with Vinícius Júnior:
“He’s in incredible form. He’s a great guy and we have a great relationship. He has improved a lot. You can see it both at club and at international level. We have a complicated task because it’s difficult to stop Vinícius. Everyone already knows his strengths but if I can make it difficult for him at a certain moment, I’ll do it.”
It was highlighted that Modrić has never beaten Brazil:
“I’ve played against them several times but I’ve not been able to beat them. I hope this will change. Brazil have great players in every position. We have to be aggressive, run like them and not let them play. That is important. When we don’t have the ball we have to be aggressive and firm.”
