Luis Suárez ‘close’ to signing for River Plate

Luis Suárez is close to joining River Plate, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Suárez’s priority was to stay in Europe and especially in La Liga, where he has been linked with clubs such as Sevilla, Villarreal and Real Sociedad.

River Plate manager Marcelo Gallardo has spoken about the move, although he did not want to confirm or deny anything. El Muñeco described the current situation with Suárez.

“He’s recovering from his knee injury now. Even if we could have him, he wouldn’t be able to play tomorrow. Our wait is in accordance with his time… His time and the time that a player of this calibre can wait go hand in hand. We are calm [about the situation],” said Gallardo in quotes reported by Estadio Deportivo.

Suárez is still on holiday in Ibiza, recovering from his knee injury. Several journalists in South America are also reporting the news including Bruno Vain of Direct TV, who said that Suárez will join River and that the official signing will be made on Monday.
