Luis Enrique: “The list is not 26, it’s 40.”

Last night Spain defeated Portugal 1-0 in Braga to win their Nations League group and progress to the Final Four of the competition.

In his post-match interview that appeared on Marca, Luis Enrique expressed his satisfaction that Spain made it to the final round of the competition:

“It is very important that we won. The arguments for winning are as good as if we had lost. It was not going to change what I thought. It is true that it is a great moment to finish with a victory. We have a very complicated World Cup ahead of us because of the level playing field, but whoever wants to beat us will have to suffer.”

The Spanish coach discussed the difficulty he is facing to select his squad for the World Cup:

“The attitude of everyone has been magnificent. None of those who have come has had a bad attitude. The list is not 26, it’s 40. The pity is that I’m going to leave out some very good players. We are very happy. Our families enjoy these moments.”

“I don’t have a clear list. It is constantly changing. We do not forget the many players who have accompanied us. It is difficult for the coach, I accept that,” he added.
