Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann no longer in Chelsea’s plans

After Luis Enrique failed to make the first cut to become the next Chelsea manager, Julian Nagelsmann has also turned down the chance to manage the Stamford Bridge outfit.

According to AS, the German coach made this known to Chelsea officials on Friday after he was part of a series of meetings as the Premier League club look to appoint a permanent head coach.

Nagelsmann wants to manage in the Premier League, as does Luis Enrique, but the crisis at Chelsea, who will not play in Europe next season, won’t convince everyone, with the risks it entails.

Pochettino in the running

With Luis Enrique and Nagelsmann ruled out, the other option is former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentinian has been without a club since leaving PSG and has been contacted by the London club on numerous occasions.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Pochettino is currently the favourite to land the Chelsea job over Burnley boss Vincent Kompany.

Pochettino’s ties with Tottenham are strong and Spurs could also look to appoint their former head coach.
