Lucas Bergvall latest: Barcelona readying bid, Man United linked & player’s preference revealed

A series of updates on the future of Swedish sensation Lucas Bergvall have come to the fore on Tuesday afternoon.

This comes amid confirmation that the race for the services of the 17-year-old – widely considered to be Sweden’s latest up-and-coming superstar – is hotting up.

As per transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, both Spanish giants Barcelona, and Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt, are keen to strike an imminent deal with their counterparts at Djurgårdens.

It is the former, though, who boast the advantage as things stand.

This comes with Bergvall himself having his heart set on a move to Catalunya.

The powers that be at the Camp Nou, in turn, are ready to move forward with an opening proposal, ahead of a new meeting with Djurgårdens over the days ahead.

The bid in question is expected to be based around Bergvall staying put in Sweden for the remainder of the campaign, before linking up with the Blaugrana on a permanent basis in the summer.

Elsewhere, clarification has also been provided when it comes to the alleged interest of Premier League giants Manchester United in the midfield starlet.

Recent days had seen speculation spread that the Old Trafford brass were locked in talks of their own, over Bergvall’s potential arrival at the club.

Romano, however, as part of his daily column for Caught Offside, has suggested that such claims appear to be wide of the mark:

“While all the top clubs in Europe have scouted Bergvall – I could mention 15 clubs – I’ve never been aware of negotiations with United.

“Barca and Eintracht Frankfurt are the two most concrete clubs in this race now, and I’m told Barcelona will push again in the next days.”
