Liverpool forward Luis Díaz’s Barcelona dream revealed

The father of Liverpool star Luis Díaz has, on Friday, admitted that it is son’s dream to one day line out for one of Spanish football’s biggest clubs.

The outfit in question? Barcelona.

Díaz, for his part, is fresh off a match-winning display in the early hours of Friday, which saw the wide-man notch a brace to guide Colombia past heavyweights Brazil in a crunch World Cup qualifier.

As alluded to above, though, post-match, it was the subject of the 26-year-old’s situation at club level which instead took its place front and centre in the headlines.

This came after Díaz’s father, fresh off a harrowing kidnapping ordeal in Colombia, provided an insight into the former Porto attacker’s fondness for Barcelona.

Speaking in an interview with Win Sports, as cited by Noticias RCN, Luis Manuel Díaz was drawn on recent speculation linking his son with a surprise move to La Liga, with Xavi’s Barca.

And the Colombian did not exactly do much to play down the ongoing chatter, in revealing that, owing to a lifelong affinity for the Blaugrana, Liverpool standout Díaz views a move to the Camp Nou as a ‘dream’.

“[The] truth is that I know very little about Barcelona at the moment,” he began.

“It is true that Luis is a loyal Barcelona fan and it would be his dream to go there. So far I would like to thank Porto and Liverpool for the way they welcomed him and received him.

“Luis is a player who finds it easy to win over because of the way he is, because of his humility, his work, his dedication, he is a very disciplined player, thank God.

“There would be no problem if Luis came to Barcelona because it is a top team and one of the best in the world.”
