Lionel has not yet made a final decision on which club he will play for next season. Messi’s future revolves around three scenarios: a new deal with PSG; a return to Camp Nou to play for FC Barcelona again; or, accepting a big-money offer from Saudi Arabia or Miami.
PSG are far from ready to give up on Messi for next season and have already made him a proposal of €30m, the same as the one they had on the table until now. The Ligue 1 club are willing to execute it when Messi agrees to stay put, but the Argentinian forward wants to know beforehand what PSG’s project going forward will look like, as reported by Onda Cero in Spain.
According to Onda Cero, there was a meeting with PSG advisor Luis Campos in March to reveal the club’s plans, but Messi’s doubts have not yet been cleared up. These doubts open the way for his possible return to Barça. There has not yet, however, been any direct contact with Barça directors, or with club president Joan Laporta and his executives. Barça head coach Xavi Hernández sees Messi returning to the club as a midfielder.
