Barcelona legend Lionel Messi will not be in attendance at the club’s upcoming anniversary celebration.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Friday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.
Barcelona will later this month hold a historic celebration, to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the club’s existence as a sporting entity.
Joan Laporta and co. afforded invitations to the event to a whole host of club legends, in the hopes of a reunion for the ages at the Camp Nou.
One such figure was Lionel Messi, whom it was was recently claimed had already come to the decision to attend.
As alluded to above, however, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then this will in fact not be the case.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:
‘The Argentine footballer, despite having already finished competing with Inter Miami in MLS, has some previous commitments that make it impossible, barring an unexpected turn of events, for his presence at the aforementioned celebration.’
Messi, as a result, has instead conducted a special interview, set to be released as part of the celebratory event.
