Lionel Messi to attend Barcelona’s 125th anniversary celebration

Barcelona legend Lionel Messi will be in attendance at the club’s upcoming anniversary celebration.

That’s according to Relevo, who have on Saturday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

Barcelona will later this month hold a historic celebration, to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the club’s existence as a sporting entity.

Joan Laporta and co. afforded invitations to the event to a whole host of club legends, in the hopes of a reunion for the ages at the Camp Nou.

And, as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then the most high-profile of all, in Lionel Messi, looks set to accept.

Doubts over Messi’s attendance had surfaced in the media over recent weeks, amid the suggestion that the Argentine could opt to sit out the event owing to his frosty relationship with Barca president Laporta.

As per Relevo, though:

‘As far as we know, Leo Messi puts the club before any personal situation and we are told that he has assured that, for Barça, he will do whatever is necessary. He will therefore be with his club at the most important celebration of the season.’
