Lionel Messi speaks out on Barcelona loan rumours

Inter Miami star Lionel Messi has shot down suggestions that he could secure a sensational move back to Barcelona over the coming months.

For those who may have missed it, veteran attacker Messi has been tipped for a shock move back to Catalunya for several weeks now.

This comes with the Argentine icon in line for an extended break, after Inter Miami missed out on a spot in MLS playoffs.

In turn, it was suggested in the media that Messi could link back up with his beloved Barca on loan, in a bid to maintain fitness for international duty.

Earlier today, the possibility of as much was therefore put to the 36-year-old himself.

This of course comes after the Blaugrana’s efforts to bring Messi back to the Camp Nou this past summer were ultimately thwarted by financial concerns.

Those of a Barcelona persuasion, though, need not get their hopes up regarding a different outcome this time round.

Speaking to French outlet L’Équipe, via Fabrizio Romano, Messi today confirmed that there is ‘no chance’ of him returning to Europe on loan over the coming months.

“No, no chance. Not at all,” the Ballon d’Or winner assured.
