Lionel Messi missed Barcelona’s morning session ahead of the club’s Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Real Sociedad on Wednesday night, according to ESPN.
Barcelona beat Granada 4-0 at the weekend and head coach Ronald Koeman substituted Messi midway through the second half. It is believed that the Argentine player has had some discomfort and has therefore decided to sit out the team’s session.
It remains to be seen whether he will start against La Real on Wednesday night at the Estadio Nuevo Arcángel.
The other semi-final sees Real Madrid take on Athletic Club on Thursday night for a place in this year’s final.
