Lionel Messi is on his way to Miami

Relevo report that is that Lionel Messi will join Inter Miami. The Argentinian’s contract at PSG is ending at the end of this month, and will not be renewed. Messi had flirted with the idea of going back to Barcelona for one last hurrah, but as it has transpired, that was always going to be difficult for Barcelona. They had told Messi that his return was on the cards and could be made possible, but it was not meant to be.

Instead, Messi will don the colours of Inter Miami next season. The American club are owned by Manchester United legend, and ex-Real Madrid player, David Beckham. Beckham has been trying to lure either Messi or his long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo to Miami for a number of years, and he has finally attracted the World Cup winner. It seems that the club could be in desperate need of Messi’s talent, as they finished in 15th place out of 15 in the Eastern group of the MLS.

It is no secret that the MLS is hardly the most competitive league, and Inter Miami are one of the worst teams, just recently sacking their manager Phil Neville, but given Messi’s career and the credit that he has in the bank, no one could blame him for seeing out his final years in America. Miami is a beautiful city and has a large Spanish-speaking population, which definitely helped to attract the Argentine forward.
