Lionel Messi: “I had a very difficult summer but now I feel good.”

Speaking in an interview with journalist Jordi Évole for La Sexta, Lionel Messi discussed his future in the game and what made Pep Guardiola and Luis Enrique stand out as coaches at FC Barcelona.

On Pep Guardiola

He makes you see things in a different way. He has something special, how he prepares for games, on how to defend, and on how to attack. I was unlucky enough to have Guardiola and Luis Enrique, the two best managers, so close one after the other. Their mentality helped me grow and improve mentally, tactically and physically.

On his private life

I am privileged because of everything that I’ve been able to experience in my life, but there are times when I would like to be anonymous. I would like to be able to enjoy going to a market, the cinema or to a restaurant.

On Barcelona

I had a very difficult time in the summer, because of how the season ended and what happened after that. Now I feel good, and I’m eager. I know that the club is going through a difficult spell. The team is and also the club, but I’m excited for the challenge.
