Life gets even better for Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham

Jude Bellingham won the Ballon d’Or Kopa Trophy on Monday night – the award for the best young player of the season. The 21-year-old saw off Jamal Musiala, who has had an equally sensational year at Bayern Munich, scoring a last-minute goal to secure them their 11th Bundesliga title in a row.

The midfielder earned a move to Real Madrid after rising to prominence at Borussia Dortmund and impressing at the 2022 World Cup. The new Real Madrid youngster has hit the ground running at his new club – scoring 13 goals in his first 13 appearances and quickly becoming a fan favourite – as well as a brace in El Clásico on Saturday.

Speaking after winning the award, he said, “I just wanted to thank everyone who got me to this point. Thank you for all the support; it means a lot.”

He further added, alluding to previous winners of the trophy, such as Kylian Mbappé, that “It’s a great list of players… and it’s an honour to be in front of some of the best players in the world and some of the best to have ever played the game.”
