Las Palmas head coach Diego Martínez has provided an update on the wellbeing of goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen.
This comes after the Dutchman set alarm bells ringing during the club’s La Liga meeting with Atlético Madrid on Sunday afternoon.
Cillessen was involved in a nasty collision with Atlético defender Nahuel Molina, which left the former Barcelona man grounded and in evident distress.
Concern surrounding his wellbeing quickly spread amongst players from both sides, with Cillessen eventually fitted with a neck brace before being stretchered from the field of play.
Speaking to the media in his post-match press conference, it therefore came as little surprise when the name of his no.1 was quickly put to Las Palmas boss Diego Martínez.
And, in quotes gathered by El Desmarque, Martínez went on to confirm that though Cillessen is ‘fine now’, the club will need to wait 48 hours for the results of the shot-stopper’s head scans:
“We’ll have to wait 48 hours. He was calm and fine now, but we have to wait.”
