Lamine Yamal provides his response to Barcelona’s opening day UCL defeat

Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal has taken to social media, to provide his response to the club’s first defeat of the campaign.

Barca of course marked their return to action on Thursday night, making the trip to France for a Champions League showdown with AS Monaco.

The Blaugrana headed into proceedings with spirits high in the camp, fresh off a perfect five wins from five to open the campaign.

When all was said and done at the Stade Louis II, however, Hansi Flick’s troops were brought crashing back down to earth.

As much came by way of a hugely disappointing 2-1 defeat, set in motion by Eric García’s early red card.

Of the few reasons to smile for the Blaugrana faithful on Thursday, the performance of the aforementioned Lamine was one, with the Spaniard having dragged his side back on level terms during the first-half courtesy of a moment of individual brilliance, to make it three goals in his last two appearances.

Post-match, Lamine was therefore keen to stay positive.

Taking to his official Instagram account in the aftermath of Barca’s first loss of 2024/25, the 17-year-old wrote:

‘Not the start we wanted, but this is just getting started. To be continued!’
