Barcelona star Lamine Yamal was not named official Man of the Match, despite his brilliance in the club’s latest outing on Sunday. Instead, the award went the way of a Blaugrana attacking partner-in-crime.
Hansi Flick’s troops were of course back in action a short time ago, making the trip to Mestalla for a La Liga meeting with Valencia.
When all was said and done on another day to remember for the visitors, Barca emerged on the right side of a 5-0 result, to open an early three-point advantage atop the Spanish top-flight table.
The aforementioned Lamine was the only member of Flick’s ranks to find the net twice across the 90 minutes, both opening and rounding out the scoring in style.
As alluded to above, though, this was not enough to earn for the 19-year-old the Man of the Match prize. Fermín López was instead handed as much.
Midfielder Fermín was in wonderful form once again at Mestalla, notching both a goal and a pair of assists en route to ‘MVP’ honours on the evening.
