La Liga to start testing players on May 4

Spain’s Ministry of Health will allow COVID-19 tests to be available from May 4 at training grounds across the country, which will see La Liga players return to training for the first time since the outbreak.

The government has approved a protocol for the return of sporting activity. A meeting was called by the Supreme Sports Council and attended by the league, the federation, the players union and club representatives to approve the protocol as part of a four-phase government plan. The first phase will see players training alone, followed by small-sized group sessions.

The plan will be rolled out over the next six to eight weeks with the aim of resuming the 2019-20 campaign in mid-June.
