La Liga heavily represented in the shortlist for the Kopa Trophy

The shortlist for the Kopa Trophy has come out. The trophy is awarded to the best player under the age of 21. La Liga have done well, Real Madrid and Barcelona particularly, to have five out of the 10 nominees between them. More specifically, three of the players belong to Barça, and two to Real Madrid. Barcelona boast Gavi, Alejandro Balde and Pedri. The Real Madrid representation comes in the form of Englishman Jude Bellingham and French ace Eduardo Camavinga.

Pedri, somehow still only 20, was the winner of the Kopa Trophy in 2021. His teammate Gavi is the current holder of the trophy. The favourite for this year, however, is their rival Bellingham. The 20-year-old has caused shockwaves following his incredible start to life with Los Blancos.

This year’s trophy presentation will take place on October 30 at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, France. As usual, the Kopa Trophy will be presented along with the Ballon d’Or. The awards ceremony will attract the world’s best footballers and managers and is sure to be a spectacle.
