Nico González could leave Barcelona during this summer transfer window if Xavi Hernández deems him surplus to requirements. The 21-year-old is under contract until 2026, however, the midfielder could find it difficult to have game time next season due to the depth in his position.
Mundo Deportivo understands that three La Liga clubs are expressing interest in the talented midfielder. The trio are Real Betis, Valencia and Villarreal, and FC Porto have also exptrssed their interest in the player.
The Spanish youth representative was shipped out on loan to Valencia last season where he found himself to be a prominent figure in the team, featuring on 26 occasions. González tallied a single goal and one assist for Los Che, per Transfermarkt. He may get the chance to expand on those numbers as there is a possibility he returns to Mestalla in the off-season.
Despite having obvious potential, it seems like both parties are swaying towards a split due to Barça having Frenkie De Jong, Gavi, Pedri, İlkay Gündogan and Franck Kessié as central midfield options.
