La Liga chief Tebas confirms Barcelona’s new payroll

La Liga president Javier Tebas has on Thursday confirmed the new yearly payroll at Barcelona.

And the figure reiterates the importance of the ongoing work being carried out by the Camp Nou brass towards getting the club’s financial situation back under control.

Deco and the board in Catalunya’s capital, of course, were forced to work under heavy restrictions throughout the recently-completed summer transfer window.

As much came as pressure ramped up for Barcelona to realign their books with not only Financial Fair Play guidelines, but also the strict caps put in place by La Liga.

Though the Blaugrana failed to hit their target of reaching the 1:1 rule, they did manage to reduce the club’s wage bill once more.

And, as a result, they have enjoyed an uptick in salary allowance moving forward.

Speaking to the media on Thursday evening, the aforementioned Javier Tebas was asked whether recent reports of an uptick in the payroll at Barcelona were accurate.

And the La Liga chief went on to confirm precisely as much, responding:

“This year they have a payroll of 450 million euros.”
