La Liga: 3 things from Saturday’s action

Matchday 25 is underway in La Liga and we take a look at three things from Saturday’s action.

1) Espanyol gave Real Madrid an early scare at the Santiago Bernabéu when Joselu scored with a fine finish but it didn’t take long for Carlo Ancelotti’s men to respond. Two goals in the first half from Brazilian pair Vinícius and Éder Militão saw Los Blancos lead at the break. Substitute Marco Asensio wrapped the game up late on with a well-taken finish after great play from defender Nacho. Madrid are now six points off Barcelona, who play Athletic Club on Sunday.

2) Iago Aspas scored a brace for Celta Vigo as they dispatched Rayo Vallecano 3-0 at Balaídos later in the day. The home win moves the Galician outfit up to 11th in the league table. Rayo midfielder Pathé Ciss put the ball into his own to help Celta double their lead in the second half.

3) Elche and Real Valladolid played out a 1-1 draw. The bottom-of-the-table side scored a 96th minute equaliser after Valladolid took the league through Canadian forward Cyle Larin. Tete Morente popped up with the late goal as Elche look to somehow climb off the bottom of the table. They have just 13 points this season and are 12 points from safety with 13 games remaining. A minor miracle is needed for them to stay in Primera.
