The Athletic report that Manchester United may not be signing Kieran Trippier from Atlético Madrid this summer, due to the fee the LaLiga champions are demanding.

Trippier is keen to join United, and move back home with his family, but Atlético are pricing out a move. United were willing to pay £10 million for the England international but Atlético reportedly insisted on £28 million.

No official bid has been made from the Old Trafford outfit and unless Atlético lower their asking price, that is how it is expected to remain.

The 30-year-old has been hugely impressive at right-back for Diego Simeone’s team since joining from Tottenham in 2019 and is contracted until June 2023.
