Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund will not be able to call upon a leading member of the club’s defensive ranks, for their upcoming showdown with Barcelona.
That’s according to Diario Sport, amongst others, who point towards Niklas Süle as the player in question.
Stopper Süle for his part featured from the off over the weekend, as Dortmund made the trip to Borussia Monchengladbach for a Bundesliga clash.
The German international, however, was forced into a premature departure from proceedings late on.
This came owing to an ankle concern, the same one which recently kept Süle sidelined for an extended period.
As per Sport, it is in turn all but confirmed that the 29-year-old will play no part in the Champions League against Barcelona on Wednesday night.
The news regarding Maximilian Beier, on the other hand, is of a more encouraging nature for BVB, with the young attacker expected to be fit and available to feature from the off, despite also coming off early against Monchengladbach.
