Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirms Javi Martínez’s departure from Bayern Munich

Javi Martínez is set to leave Bayern Munich, with a return to Athletic Club his most likely destination.

The 32-year-old has been heavily linked with a move back to La Liga. Bayern posted the club’s annual squad picture on Tuesday which didn’t include Martínez. German outlet Bild and German journalist Christian Falk have reported that the Spaniard is leaving the Bundesliga champions. The report also claimed that Bayern are looking for a fee of €10m, while Athletic hope to bring him back to San Mamés for €6m.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (Bayern chairman), posted a farewell message to Martínez on Instagram. “Thank you for everything, dear Javi Martínez. We wish you all the best for the future.”
