Karim Benzema’s situation at Real Madrid: Saudi offer and more

Karim Benzema’s contract at Real Madrid expires on 30 June and it looked like he was going to stay at the club for one more season. However, it is not clear that this is going to be the case and there are already those who see Benzema saying goodbye to Real Madrid this Sunday in the final match of La Liga season against Athletic Club.

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, a club in Saudi Arabia have made the 35-year-old forward a huge offer – a two-year contract worth €100m per season – and 100 percent of his image rights. He could also be an ambassador for the country’s joint-bid to host the 2030 World Cup.

The Madrid No 9 is seriously considering the offer and has already made it known to Real Madrid officials. The club has asked him to communicate his decision as soon as possible as they continue to prepare for the 2023-24 campaign.

Real Madrid are aware that Benzema’s departure will completely change their transfer strategy over the coming weeks. With Benzema in their ranks, Joselu would, in principle, cover the centre-forward position, but if Benzema leaves, Los Blancos will have to sign another striker this summer.
