Karim Benzema’s future with France remains uncertain

Karim Benzema is unlikely to to play for the France national team again whilst Didider Deschamps is in charge, speculate Mundo Deportivo.

Despite being part of the French World Cup squad, the Real Madrid captain returned to the Spanish capital after suffering an injury prior to the start of the tournament.

Even though he could have recovered by the round of last 16, the 34-year-old argued that Deschamps pushed him out the national team. Los Blancos communicated that they would have let Benzema return to Qatar to play in the World Cup final.

Deschamps and Benzema have had a difficult relationship for many years, but they overcame their differences in 2021 when the striker was called up to France’s Euro 2020 squad.

However, it appears as though that their relationship in Qatar has broken down irreversibly and it is very unlikely that Benzema will be seen called up to the France team while Deschamps is in charge.

Benzema declined the invitation to join Emmanuel Macron’s presidential envoy to the final.
