Karim Benzema reportedly set to stay at Real Madrid

Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema spoke about his future at the Marca Leyenda award ceremony on Thursday evening.

“The reality is not what they’re saying on the Internet,” he said when asked about his possible departure from the Bernabéu this summer.

According to Marca, Benzema’s idea is to remain at Madrid and spend another year at the club, which is what both parties have had in mind for a long time.

Benzema is said to be very grateful to Saudi Arabia for the enormous interest the country has shown for months now, but the 35-year-old wants to stay with Los Blancos until 2024.

Benzema also considers that this season may not have been the best, but he is satisfied on a collective and individual level.

Madrid have reached the semi-finals of the Champions League for yet another year and have won the Copa del Rey, the Club World Cup and the European Super Cup.

On an individual level, with one match remaining, he has scored 30 goals, despite the fact that he has not been at his best on many occasions due to physical problems.

Despite missing 18 games, he is the club’s top scorer for another year.
