Jürgen Klopp: “If anyone can compete it’s Atlético Madrid”

Speaking in an interview with Rai Sport, Liverpool head coach Jürgen Klopp discussed his side’s upcoming Champions League last-16 tie with Atlético Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano.

“Their goal difference in La Liga isn’t the best, it’s true, they’ve only scored 25 goals but they’ve only conceded 17,” said Klopp. “They’ve had serious injury problems to key players in the last few weeks. But Álvaro Morata was on the bench against Valencia on Friday. I heard that Diego Costa has returned to training and João Félix will be available, I’m almost sure.”

“If anyone can compete it’s Atlético,” he added. The German coach has plenty of respect and admiration for Atleti boss Diego Simeone. “We have a similar history. We tried a lot and didn’t win but we kept trying. I like this. He is very competitive and we have a good relationship.”
