In an interview that appeared on Mundo Deportivo, Juanmi revealed what he hopes to achieve with Real Betis this coming season.
The Spanish forward scored 20 goals for Los Verdiblancos in a season which they finished fifth in La Liga and won the Copa del Rey.
Juanmi believes that they can build upon their success:
“Our responsibility is to correct some details and make that leap and hopefully we can achieve another great season. We have finished in the Europa League places for two years in a row, which is an important step, and we won the Cup as well. I think we are on the right path to achieve great things. That’s the mentality, to improve upon our weaknesses so that we can go for those Champions League places. We want to be as high up the table as possible.”
He remained optimistic when he was asked about whether he was worried about Real Betis not winning a game in pre-season:
“We are in a period of adaptation. Results are important because when you win you see everything in a different way. However, we still have a game at the Villamarín against Fiorentina which I think is a good test to prepare us for the start of La Liga. Hopefully we can get a win that we can give to our fans and start the season in the best possible way.”
Real Betis will kick off their La Liga campaign against Elche next Saturday.
