Juan Mata is close to completing his move to Galatasaray, as confirmed by Matteo Moretto at Relevo.
The Spaniard has been without a club following the expiration of his deal at Manchester United at the end of last season.
Throughout the summer transfer window, he has been linked with several high-profile clubs, including Real Betis. However, despite their interest, Los Verdiblancos didn’t have the budget to bring Mata to Andalucía.
It has been communicated that Mata and Galatasaray have arrived at an agreement that will see the 34-year-old play in the Turkish Süper Lig.
Mata landed in Istanbul earlier this morning to complete his medical and sign his contract before his arrival is made official. Both sides will hope to finalise all the paperwork today as the Turkish transfer window will close this evening.
The midfielder is expected to sign a one-year contract, which has the option to be extended by one more season.
