Real Madrid head coach José Mourinho has sent a message of gratitude the way of Blancos star Trent Alexander-Arnold. This comes after the Englishman played out of position in the club’s most recent outing.
Real Madrid were of course back in action on the continent yesterday evening, welcoming Italian champions Inter Milan to Spain’s capital for a Champions League clash.
When all was said and done, the hosts emerged on the right side of a 2-1 result, thanking goals from Kylian Mbappé and Federico Valverde for their triumph.
The aforementioned Alexander-Arnold, meanwhile, featured from the off at the Bernabéu. Rather than from his usual berth at right-back, though, the former Liverpool man was tasked with lining out in the middle of the park.
This came with all of Bernardo Silva, Eduardo Camavinga, and Arda Güler having been suspended.
Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle on Tuesday, José Mourinho was therefore keen to make his appreciation for Alexander-Arnold known:
“I thank Trent Alexander-Arnold for his efforts to play in a position that is not his. It’s very clear that his qualities are made for the full-back position, not for midfield.”
