José Luis Gayà: “In May I had doubts about the project, but now I believe in it.”

Yesterday it was communicated that José Luis Gayà renewed his contract with Valencia until 2027.

In an interview that appeared on Marca following his renewal, he revealed that he had offers from other clubs:

“There were offers, I will not deny it, but in my head I always wanted to be able to stay here, to continue being linked with my club. I want to stay here, I have a lot of room for improvement and I want to do it here. In May I had doubts about the project, but now I believe in it.”

Gayà also discussed what he wants to achieve with Valencia:

“The biggest dream I had was to be able to win a title with Valencia. And being captain was something that even in my best dreams I couldn’t imagine. But the competitive nature drives me to want to lift a title as captain of Valencia in the future. We came very close in the last cup final, but I’m sure we’ll have another chance.”
