Last night Sevilla defeated Getafe 2-1 in the 16th round of La Liga.
In his post-match interview that appeared on Marca, Jorge Sampaoli analysed the game:
“The situation, the moment, the nervousness, the opposition saw it and created some problems. The changes helped, we scored a second goal and the game was completely under control. Their goal put us under pressure in the final stretch but the result serves to consolidate the collectiveness of the team, to improve some players and we have to continue to grow.”
The Argentine coach discussed the match in the context of Sevilla’s position in the league:
“It’s the start of the rise, of changing the reality. This match as a statistic is good for us but we have to improve for the next ones, consolidate the idea of improvement as a group.”
As things stand Sevilla are above the relegation zone thanks their superior goal difference to Cádiz. They will travel to Catalonia to face Getafe next Saturday.
