João Félix to be dropped amid fresh doubt over Barcelona future

An update on the future of Barcelona loanee João Félix has come to the fore. The info comes courtesy of Diario AS, and will no doubt prove a source of concern for those hopeful of seeing Félix’s Blaugrana switch made permanent.

On the back of another underwhelming showing last time out against Almería, the Portuguese, it is claimed, is in line to drop to the bench for Barcelona’s return to action at Las Palmas later this week.

Ferran Torres will take his place in Xavi Hernández’s starting XI, owing to his superior work rate and defensive impact.

AS go on to suggest that this could have further-reaching consequences for Félix, too, amid ongoing uncertainty across the Barcelona hierarchy regarding his long-term future.

Parent club Atlético Madrid, for their part, are keen to recoup a substantial sum for a player whom they previously broke the bank for back in 2019.

Back in Catalonia, though, ‘doubts at board level are growing every day about his signing’, with any kind of prolonged absence from the first-choice Barca line-up only likely to throw his future in the colours of the club ever further into doubt.
