Joan Laporta tells Marcos Alonso that he will sign him this transfer window

Joan Laporta has made it his priority to sign Marcos Alonso before the transfer window closes next Thursday, report AS.

Alonso has been linked with a move to the Blaugrana throughout the summer, but the Catalan side has been unable to arrive at an agreement with Chelsea.

According to sources close to the negotiations, Joan Laporta told the 31-year-old that he will do everything within his means to sign him in the next 48 hours. The player and the club have already agreed personal terms a couple of months ago.

Chelsea want to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona and have suggested including the Spanish international in the agreement. However, Barça want the Alonso and Aubameyang transfers to be separate deals and the two sides are set to continue negotiations today.

Earlier this morning it was communicated that Barcelona are interested in signing Thomas Meunier from Borussia Dortmund as an alternative to Sergiño Dest, who is not part of Xavi’s future plans.
