Speaking ahead of Barcelona’s trip to take on Atlético Madrid in La Liga on Saturday, club president Joan Laporta discussed head coach Ronald Koeman’s future.
“Koeman will stay on as head coach regardless of the result [against Atlético]. He will stay. He deserves a margin of confidence. He loves Barça, he’s a reference point. I have spoken to him and I have drawn my conclusions. He took over Barça at a difficult time. He may have had moments of discouragement but he has recovered his spirits and now that the injured players are going to return he deserves that margin of confidence. We have spoken and we have not had a cold relationship. It’s good and sincere. He’s a good person, he thinks the same about me and we’re all trying to turn things around for the better,” Laporta said in quotes transcribed by Mundo Deportivo.
