Joan Laporta on Lionel Messi: “Barça is his home.”

In an interview that appeared on Marca, Joan Laporta discussed the potential signing of Lionel Messi and Barcelona’s strategy in the upcoming January transfer window.

As it was communicated earlier this month, Messi has put on hold any potential renewal talks with PSG until at least the new year.

Laporta was asked about whether the Blaugrana are planning to make a move for the Argentine forward:

“Leo is a player who will always be linked with Barcelona. Barça is his home. I won’t comment on any more issues related to him because he has a contract with PSG and it would be disrespectful. I’m not going to go into it.”

The Barcelona president also revealed how the club will approach the January transfer window:

“We have a team planned in the summer and we don’t have to do anything in January unless circumstances arise that we have to resolve. We already worked a lot in the summer with the levers in order to build a good team.

“In fact, we are satisfied with how the season is going despite the slip up in the Champions League. The priority is the league and we are in first place. We are improving every day,” he added.
