After another season with hardly any game time, Spanish centre-back Jesús Vallejo decided to leave Real Madrid and look for a new challenge.
“It was something very simple. Granada wanted me to be here and I wanted to come. I’m delighted to be here,” he says in words transcribed by Marca.
“When the season ends you have to take stock of how everything has been. When I found out about Granada’s interest it was quite simple. I am not one of the people who want to settle down and be in a place just to be. I have a lot of ambition, more every day, and when I saw that Granada was an opportunity I ruled out other options to focus on coming back.”
Vallejo is set for his second stint with the Andalusian club. The 26-year-old spent two seasons on loan at Granada from 2019-21, making 51 appearances. In both those campaigns, they finished in the top half, before suffering a downturn in form which resulted in relegation in 2022.
“I see a club where things are done very well on a day-to-day basis… daily work is non-negotiable. I already knew many team-mates and joining this group is very easy. The players who come will have it very easy because they provide the facilities from day one.”
