Atlético Madrid star Cristian Romero was caught on camera venting his frustrations with the standard of officiating at the interval of last weekend’s Madrid Derby.
Stopper Romero was of course at the heart of one of a number of controversial incidents in Sunday’s showdown between Atlético and Real Madrid.
En route to an eventual 2-1 triumph for the former, the Argentine was responsible for a challenge on Jude Bellingham which those of a Real Madrid persuasion were adamant was deserving of a red card.
Romero ultimately escaped with just a yellow, before teammate Lee Kang-in also avoided dismissal for a dangerous tackle on Federico Valverde later in the first-half.
Despite as much, though, upon the referee’s whistle bringing the opening 45 minutes to a close in the Spanish capital, Romero was adamant that it was he and his teammates who had been hard done by.
As caught by the DAZN cameras at the Metropolitano, on his way off the pitch at half-time, the summer Atléti signing vented:
“It’s impossible to play against Madrid because they award everything to them.”
