‘It’s crazy – Real Madrid star defends Vinícius Jr. over 4-match ban

Real Madrid star Endrick has revealed his take that Vinícius Jr’s reputation played a role in the harsh nature of his recent punishment on the part of the Spanish Football Federation.

Attacker Vinícius was of course made aware of the extent of his sanction for domestic competition on Wednesday.

After being shown a straight red card en route to Real Madrid’s La Liga victory over Villarreal last weekend, the Brazilian was slapped with a four-match suspension.

This came after ‘Viní’ was caught by VAR pulling the hair of Nathan Saliba.

The punishment was labelled harsh by many, after it was previously suggested that a three-match ban was the most likely verdict.

As alluded to above, though, one individual who was not at all surprised by the extent of his teammate’s ban was fellow countryman Endrick. Drawn on Vinícius’ woes in the aftermath of Real Madrid’s victory over AS Roma on Wednesday, frontman Endrick explained to Marca:

“We knew it was supposed to be two matches, but deep down we knew it wasn’t going to be two… Because what they’re doing to Vini is crazy and this isn’t going to change. We knew it was going to be like this, that they were going to come after Vini. He’s a strong guy who always fights against everything, and when he comes back, he’s going to come back in great shape.”
